INSPIRATION BEHIND THE PRINT
Layers. When thinking about layers, there’s a sense of dimensionality, where each layer contributes to an overall system or structure. In nature, a leaf has layers where each layer has a specific function. From the epidermis layer to photosynthetic tissues inside. When those layers are combined, they create something greater than the sum of their parts. In clothing, layering is both a functional and artistic choice. Layers of fabric can create varying degrees of opacity, texture or structure. So in this season’s print I was inspired by combining together different layers of paint to create a dynamic art piece to put use as a pattern.
